Traffic on the field...

It can be very narrow with space sometimes out here at Valhall Oil Field. But with mordern equipment as the DP System (Dynamic positioning) on every ship it is not much of a problem to lay as close as 15 - 30 meters away form each other to do a job. Today we are four ships in the total doing driffrent typs of jobs and figthing for space with in the 500 meter zone. This zone is all so seen on the oil platforms saftey zone and ships should only be within this area if they really need to...

So now Island Cheiftain lays on the Valhall DP platform and does loading and dichargeing operation and we come in next to her on the Valhall QP to do some transfers then i can become narrow with the space. It can happen that we only lay 15 - 30 meters from each other.
But with a system as the "DP" on board it is no problem since it will hold us in a position of within 1 meter of the set position when we have set the lock on while doing loading and discharing.
